Choosing between a VDS and a dedicated server

A virtual dedicated server reserves CPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage for you alone. Unlike shared VPS hosting, nothing you run competes with a noisy neighbour, so response times stay predictable under load. For web applications, databases, game servers and CI runners this is usually the right size of machine.

A dedicated server makes sense once you need the whole box: heavy virtualisation, very large databases, or workloads where you want full control of the hardware and no hypervisor between you and it.

What the specifications mean in practice

Every plan runs on AMD EPYC cores with DDR5 ECC memory and local Gen4 NVMe in hardware RAID 10. ECC memory corrects bit errors as they happen, which matters for anything that stays up for months; local NVMe keeps database writes fast because storage is not on the other side of a network.

Networking is redundant 100G into Tier-1 carriers, and DDoS filtering sits in front of every server by default. There is no mode to enable and no per-attack surcharge.

Standard plans or a custom build

VDS-S suits small projects, development environments and single-service setups. VDS-M is sized for production applications running an app and its database on the same machine. VDS-L is for busy sites, multiple services and memory-hungry workloads.

If none of those line up with what you need, the custom configuration option lets you pick RAM and disk separately — useful when a workload wants a lot of memory but little storage, or the reverse. Either way provisioning is automated and root access is yours from the first minute.

A VDS gives you a fixed slice of a physical machine: the CPU cores, RAM and disk are reserved for you alone. Unlike shared VPS hosting, your performance does not drop when a neighbour gets busy.
